Tire and wheel on balancing equipment

Care for your vehicle

Tires and wheels affect ride quality, traction, and handling. We offer wheel and tire service as part of complete vehicle care.

Pressure loss, irregular tread wear, and vibration have different possible causes. Tire condition, wheel damage, and related steering or suspension concerns may need to be considered together.

Before your visit

Share any recent impact, recurring pressure loss, or speed-related vibration. Do not drive on a flat tire, exposed cords, or a tire with a sidewall bulge.

Tire condition affects every trip

Tires support the vehicle’s load and provide the contact needed for acceleration, braking, and steering. Inflation, tread condition, age, damage, and wheel condition all matter. Vibration or uneven wear can also involve balance, steering, or suspension concerns, so tires should not be considered in isolation.

When to arrange an inspection

  • Repeated pressure loss or a tire warning
  • Uneven tread wear, vibration, or pulling
  • Cuts, bulges, or impact damage

Use vehicle-specific pressure and fitment

Check the pressure specified on the vehicle placard or in the owner’s manual, rather than using the maximum pressure printed on the tire as the target. Tell us where and at what speed vibration appears, and whether a pothole impact occurred. A bulge, exposed cord, or badly damaged tire needs prompt attention; do not rely on a routine rotation to correct physical damage.

Questions about Wheels & Tires

Troubleshooting Guide

View All Troubleshooting Guide
Why does my tire-pressure light come on in cold weather?

Pressure can fall as temperatures drop. Check cold tire pressure against the vehicle’s door-label specification, not the tire sidewall maximum. If pressure keeps falling, R & S Automotive Center can inspect for a leak.

Why does the steering wheel vibrate at certain speeds?

Wheel balance, tire damage, or related components may cause speed-dependent vibration. Tell R & S Automotive Center when it starts. Slow down and stop safely if vibration is severe or begins suddenly after an impact.

Why are my tires wearing unevenly?

Pressure, wheel alignment, or worn components can affect tread wear. R & S Automotive Center can inspect tire and vehicle condition to discuss the next step; rotating tires alone does not correct every cause.

Can I drive with a bulge in the tire sidewall?

No. A bulge can indicate structural damage and a risk of failure. Stop in a safe place and arrange roadside assistance. Contact R & S Automotive Center about tire service before putting the damaged tire back in use.

Why does the same tire repeatedly lose air?

A puncture, valve, rim, or bead-sealing problem may cause recurring pressure loss. Ask R & S Automotive Center to inspect it. Repeatedly inflating the tire without finding the leak can leave an unsafe condition unresolved.

Service Questions

Can you help with wheels and tires?

Yes. R & S Automotive Center offers wheel and tire service. Share any recent impact, recurring pressure loss, or speed-related vibration. Do not drive on a flat tire, exposed cords, or a tire with a sidewall bulge. Call 208-356-0786 to discuss your vehicle and arrange service.

Should I inflate tires to the number on the sidewall?

Use the vehicle’s specified cold inflation pressure, usually on the door placard or in the owner’s manual. The sidewall maximum is not the normal target for every vehicle.

Does a tire-pressure light mean the tire is punctured?

Not always. Temperature changes, low pressure, a leak, or a monitoring-system concern may be involved. Check pressures safely and have repeated loss evaluated.

Can every puncture be repaired?

No. Location, size, tire condition, and whether it was driven underinflated affect repairability. Sidewall damage and other unsafe conditions may require replacement.
